  3. Recently I went to MLG (Major League Gaming) in Dallas. As a poor art student, going to events is not really my thing, because it is so easy to spend money.

For this event this is what I spent:

    Gas - $10
Snacks on the way - $10
Lunch we brought from Kroger - $12
Ticket for my fiance and I - $80
T-shirt of my favorite game character - $30

    Total: $142.00

This was all for one day. The even lasts for 3 days, so If I had been able to come for the full event I would have spend much more on food and entertainment. What I normally do on a weekend is eat, sleep, work on homework and play video games.

I would maybe spend $30 bucks max if I had stayed at home.

Even if the arts is more mainstream like video games, art plays an extremely important roll in that. For example, without the T-shirt artist I would have never bought the overpriced T-shirt. I'm very thrifty, so spending over $120 dollars does not happen very often for me.

  5. impacting the economy through the arts:
I went to Warp Tour a couple of years in a row.
Each time it was at the Smirnoff Music Center.
    Tickets were $30 and up x 2 attendees= $60 each event x 2 events = $120
Distance to and from was roughly 80 miles each time.
Gas being about $3 a gallon and car getting about 30 miles per gallon=about $16 dollars in gas.
Had at least 2 drinks and 2 meals at each event.
    Drinks = $4 eachx4=$16
Meals at least $6 (at event) 4 meals total=$24
After several hours of music we head home and stop again to eat. We spend roughly $25 each time x 2 events = $50
Total for both events = $226 or $113 per event.

  8. I went with my family to New York City to look at Colleges for my brother. While we were there, we saw the Book of Mormon off Broadway. Getting to the play, I or my parents spent:

    $300 X 5 round trip plane tickets
$10 to get from the airport in Newark to NYC by train
$25 for subway passes to get to the hotel and around the city
$400 for three nights in the hotel
$20 on lunch at a bistro in China town
$50 on dinner in little Italy
$100 on four standing room only tickets
    $30 on Italian pastries
$50 on lox bagels for the family
$10 on train ticket back to the airport
$15 on a sandwich, chips, a drink, and a magazine at the airport

We had a "reason" for going to New York, to help my brother look at schools in the area, but really we spent most of our time wandering about the city, eating and taking in the sights.

  10. My parents brother and I took a day to go to the Ripley's Believe it or not museum in grand prairie and then to Medieval Times.
Breakfast at McDonalds that morning: $20
    Ripley's museum: $91.98
    Medieval Times: $130
    gas: $60

I wasn't the one who was paying then so these prices are approximate and I don't know if there were any other things that they probably paid for during that time, which they probably did.
Like: a photo from medieval times of our family, a wax figure of my hand from the museum, and probably some snacks during the museum too.
